BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Elon University men's basketball team was handed a 76-58 setback at Campbell on Thursday night, Feb. 6 at the Gilbert Craig Gore Arena.

Elon (15-9, 6-5 CAA) was led by Sam Sherry and his 12 points while Nick Dorn and TJ Simpkins both had 11. Matthew Van Komen had 10 rebounds for the Phoenix.

Colby Duggan paced the Camels (13-11, 8-3 CAA) with his 23 points as Campbell won its sixth straight. Tasos Cook had 14 off the bench while Jasin Sinani added 11. Nolan Dorset flirted with a triple double with 10 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists.

THE RUNDOWN
• Elon opened the game with a 7-3 lead over the Camels, but the hosts came back with a 15-4 run to take an 18-11 advantage by the under-12 media timeout in the first half.
• The Camels saw their lead go as large as 19 in the first half as Elon faced a 38-19 deficit with 2:26 left in the first half. Elon fought to cut it to 11, 38-27, on an 8-0 run after a pair of Dorn free throws. Campbell however would take a 12-point advantage into the half, 40-28.
• A couple of free throws by TJ Simpkins brought Elon back within 11, 48-37, with 15:33 left to go in the game. A 6-0 run by the Camels saw Elon fall behind 54-37 before TJ Simpkins got two back on a pair of free throws with 11:54 remaining.
• The Phoenix could not get any closer as the Camels pulled away for the rest of the half to take the 76-58 win to split the season series versus their intrastate rival.

• Van Komen had his eighth double-digit rebound effort of the season. The Lehi, Utah, native also had three blocks, his 15th contest with two or more rejections.
• Sherry's 12 points moved the senior to 973 points for his career. The Mechanicsburg, Pa., native also grabbed eight rebounds in the game.
