-8 CAA) earlier this afternoon. A quality start from
Declan Lavelle was not enough as the Hawks shutout Elon, 3-0.

How It Happened
- For the first time in the series, the Phoenix could not deliver a run in the first inning while both pitchers settled in with two clean frames to begin the game.
- Monmouth would strike first with two, unearned runs in the third inning to take a 2-0 lead.
- Elon hitters singled three times in the following frame, but with the bases loaded and less than two outs, the Phoenix could not bring a run across.
- Lavelle continued to bear down with two more clean frames in the fourth and fifth.
- The Hawks added insurance on a double to left field in the sixth to take a 3-0 lead.
- Elon could not find a run in the remaining innings which sealed the Sunday, Monmouth shutout.
