ELON, N.C. – Seniors Kaitlyn Wells and McKenna McCard of the Elon University softball team were selected on the NFCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region teams as announced by the coaches association on Thursday afternoon, May 15. Wells garnered Second Team honors while McCard received Third Team laurels.
 
Wells adds to her laundry list of postseason awards in honor of her historic 2025 senior campaign. The Roswell, Ga., native leads the Phoenix in a number of offensive categories, including batting average (.417), hits (68), slugging percentage (.785), home runs (16) and RBI (58), breaking the program's single-season school record in RBI and home runs. Her 128 total bases are also the most for a player in school history at the Division I level, while her 68 total hits are the eighth-most for Elon in a single-season and the most since Kara Shutt had 74 during her All-American campaign in 2018. She earned First Team All-CAA honors and was named the CAA Most Outstanding Player honors from the CAA Tournament.
 
McCard led the Phoenix in the majority of the pitching categories in 2025. The Ashburn, Ga., paces the team in ERA (1.98), innings (102.2), strikeouts (84) and wins (13). She also earned All-CAA accolades during the season and was placed on the Second Team. McCard set a career and CAA-high this season with 15 strikeouts at North Carolina A&T on April 18, notching the most strikeouts for a Phoenix pitcher since 2011. She was rewarded as the CAA Co-Pitcher of the Week and becomes the first Elon pitcher to receive All-Region honors since Abbey Barker in 2019.
 
NFCA member head coaches from each respective region nominated student-athletes and voted for the teams. All awarded student-athletes now become eligible for the 2025 NFCA Division I All-America squads.
