RICHMOND, Va. – Headlined by a preseason All-CAA selection for junior Cameron Lanier, the Elon University volleyball team had three student-athletes recognized as the league announced its preseason awards on Monday.
 
Lanier was honored on the 10-member preseason All-CAA team, while teammates Caroline Berlekamp and Catherine Rucker received honorable mentions.
 
Lanier, an outside hitter, is the Phoenix's returning leader in total kills (245) and kills per set (2.72) with a .236 attack percentage. The Chapel Hill native had 14 double-digit kill performances last season, including a season-high 15 against Southern Miss.
 
Berlekamp recorded 128 kills last season while leading the team with 19 solo blocks and 101 total blocks, averaging 0.96 blocks per set. The junior middle blocker posted a .299 hitting percentage, ranking sixth overall in the CAA.
 
Rucker was a CAA All-Rookie Team selection last season after registering 88 kills, averaging 1.82 kills per set. The Chapel Hill native and middle blocker posted a .330 attack percentage and finished third on the squad with 57 blocks, averaging 0.84 per set.
 
College of Charleston was the favorite in the CAA's 2025 preseason poll with 92 points and five first-place votes. Hofstra (90), Towson (88) and North Carolina A&T (68) followed the Cougars, with each receiving at least one first-place vote. Elon was predicted to finish eighth in the preseason poll with 34 points.
 
The Phoenix opens the 2025 campaign hosting Coppin State on Aug. 29, at Schar Center with a 6 p.m. first serve. All of Elon's home matches this season at Schar Center will have free admission.
