ELON – The Elon University men's tennis team started its fall season Friday on day one of the Elon Invitational at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.

Freshman Sibby Rodi picked up a pair of victories in his first appearance with the Phoenix. He advanced in the C Singles draw with a pair of tiebreak triumphs against South Carolina State's Gabriel Johnson and teamed up with fellow freshman Nick Fisk for a victory in the back draw of the C Doubles flight.
 
In singles, Alonso Roca joined Rodi with a victory, defeating Hector Hertz Nissen from UNCG, 7-5, 7-5, in the D flight. Oskar Antinheimo and Veljko Krstic also tallied a doubles victory for the Phoenix, winning a back draw match in the A draw.
 
Play will continue Saturday with two rounds of singles beginning at 9 a.m.
