RICHMOND, Va. – Elon cross country junior Abby Beville was named the Coastal Athletic Association Women's Co-Runner of the Week on Tuesday following her standout effort in the Phoenix's season-opening race last Friday.

Beville clocked a personal-best 13:36.6 to win the women's 4K individual title and lead the Phoenix women to a team victory in the Elon Opener. She topped a field of 107 runners by seven seconds and paced a group of five Elon runners who finished in the top 10. It was the first cross country win of Beville's three-year collegiate career.

Beville, who hails from Hamilton, Massachusetts, shared the weekly honor with William & Mary's Perry Irons. Beville was an All-CAA selection last fall after placing 12th at the conference championships.

The Phoenix is back in action with the adidas XC Challenge at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary on Sept. 19.
