RICHMOND, Va. – Elon redshirt junior Katie Blount was named the Coastal Athletic Association Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week on Tuesday following a record-setting performance last week.
 
Blount broke Elon's women's 5K school record by nearly eight seconds, clocking 16:41.4 to take eighth place at the adidas XC Challenge in Cary last Friday. The performance came in Blount's first cross country race since 2023 after she redshirted the 2024 season.
 
Blount, who hails from Atlanta, was a two-time All-CAA cross country selection in 2022 and 2023 and joins Abby Beville as the Phoenix's recipients of the weekly conference honor this season.
