LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Elon University men's tennis team picked up five victories to open the Liberty Dual on Friday.

Veljko Krstic and Nikola Parichkov both tallied a pair of victories to lead the Phoenix. The duo teamed up for a 7-6 (2) win in doubles over Liberty's pairing of Siwanat Auytayakul and Benjamin Sparks before they each won their respective matches in singles. Krstic and Parichkov combined to lose just five games in their singles victories against Liberty opponents.

Jack Curtis and Charles Pilet also won their singles matches, with Curtis coming through in a third set against Liberty's Ernst Gouws for his team-best fourth singles win of the fall. Pilet defeated Sparks in straight sets for his third victory of the fall slate.

Play at the Liberty Dual will continue Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.
