BUIES CREEK – The Elon women's basketball team battled in a tight, back-and-forth game, but Campbell's fourth-quarter surge put them on top 60-52 on Friday night at Gore Arena.

LaNae' Corbett led the team in scoring for the eighth time this season with 17 points, shooting 8-for-15 from the floor.
Ashanti Fox had a career night with 14 points and led the team with a career-best four steals.

Elon fell to 6-9 overall and 1-2 in CAA play with the road loss, while Campbell improved to 8-7, 1-1 in the conference and remained undefeated at home.
THE RUNDOWN
- The teams traded baskets early in the first quarter, with Elon trailing 10-8 at the 3:52 mark. Campbell closed the quarter on a 7-2 run to take a 17-10 lead after one frame.
- Elon responded with a 5-0 run to cut the deficit to 17-15 with 7:53 left in the half. An Ashanti Fox and-one cut the deficit to 19-18 with 4:59 remaining, and later back-to-back baskets from LaNae' Corbett gave Elon a 25-24 edge before the Camels closed the half leading 26-25.
- Back-to-back buckets from Corbett gave Elon a 29-26 lead before the teams traded baskets. A layup from Tamia Watkins and a three-pointer from Fox extended the lead to 36-32. Elon then went on an 8-4 run to lead 44-36 with 1:12 remaining, before the Camels closed the third quarter on a 6-0 run, cutting the Phoenix lead to 44-42 heading into the fourth.
- Elon opened the final frame on a 5-2 run, with a jumper from Corbett and a three-pointer from Kamryn Doty giving them a 49-44 lead with 8:02 remaining. Campbell responded with a 12-3 run to take a 56-52 lead with 37 seconds left and sealed the 62-52 win at the free-throw line.
NOTES
- LaNae' Corbett led the Phoenix offense, reaching double-figures for the fifth straight game with 17 points.
- Ashanti Fox scored in double figures for the fifth time this season with 14 points, while also setting a career-high with four steals and leading the team with four assists.
- Elon led the offensive glass for the 11th time this season, outrebounding the Camels 13-7, offensively.
- The Phoenix also dominated the paint, outscoring Campbell 32-22.
- The Phoenix returned the same starting lineup in  LaNae Corbett, Maraja Pass, Ashlee Shaw, Tyana Walker, and Tamia Watkins.
UP NEXT
The Phoenix take a week off before resuming CAA play on the road at UNCW on Friday, Jan. 16, with a 7 p.m. ET tipoff, followed by a 1 p.m. ET game at Charleston on Sunday, Jan. 18.
