The 2026-27 class will be recognized and honored during Elon's third annual Hall of Fame and Champions Weekend, scheduled for Jan. 29-30, 2027. The induction ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. ET on Saturday, Jan. 30, at Alumni Gym, and is free and open to the public, though registration is requested. More information regarding registration will be announced at a later date.

"From championship performances, national recognitions and record-setting performances, these five outstanding alumni embody the best of Elon Athletics," said Director of Athletics Jenn Strawley. "Their accomplishments elevated our program and continue to inspire our Elon Athletics community. We look forward to welcoming them and their families back to campus in January to celebrate their achievements, honor their lasting contributions, and share their stories with the next generation of Elon student-athletes."

Shay Burnett '18, Women's Basketball, 2014-18
One of the most decorated players in Elon women's basketball history, Burnett made an impact both individually and as a key member of one of the most successful stretches in the program's Division I era.

A three-time First Team All-CAA selection, Burnett finished her career with 1,567 points, 894 rebounds and 563 assists in 128 games. She became one of just six players in CAA history to record at least 1,000 points, 500 assists and 400 rebounds during a career.

Burnett remains among the program's career leaders in several categories, ranking fourth in scoring and rebounding and second in assists. She is also Elon's career leader in free throws made with 451 and totaled 207 assists as a senior in 2017-18, the second-highest single-season mark in program history.

Along with her individual success, Burnett played a pivotal role in helping Elon capture back-to-back CAA Tournament championships and earn consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances in 2017 and 2018. After earning CAA All-Tournament Team honors in 2017, Burnett was named the CAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player in 2018. She also received second-team All-ECAC recognition and was the recipient of Elon's Stein H. Basnight Outstanding Athlete Award following the 2016-17 season.

Bryanna Hames '18, Women's Track and Field, 2015-18
One of the premier throwers in Elon track and field history, Hames established herself at both the conference and national levels while rewriting the Phoenix record book.

Hames earned honorable mention All-America recognition in the discus at the 2017 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. During her career, she was a four-time All-CAA performer and twice captured the CAA championship in the discus.

Her impact remains evident throughout Elon's record book. Hames established program records in the indoor shot put with a mark of 15.33 meters, outdoor shot put at 15.58 meters and discus at 53.20 meters.

Hames' accomplishments also earned her Elon's Stein H. Basnight Outstanding Athlete Award following the 2017-18 academic year.

Mike Melillo '10, Baseball, 2007-10
One of the top power hitters of Elon's Division I era, Melillo put together a productive four-year career for the Phoenix from 2007-10.

Melillo appeared in 206 career games and finished with a .317 batting average, 207 hits, 41 doubles and 39 home runs. His 39 career homers established an Elon program record, while he also finished his career among the program's top 10 in on-base percentage, slugging percentage, runs scored, RBIs and total bases.

His breakout junior campaign in 2009 included a .344 batting average, 18 home runs, 19 doubles, 60 RBIs and 67 runs scored. His .722 slugging percentage that season ranks among the best single-season marks in program history.

As a senior in 2010, Melillo was named First Team All-Southern Conference by the league's coaches and Second Team All-SoCon by the media. He was also a two-time Academic All-SoCon selection and earned North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association All-State honors in both 2009 and 2010.

Kara Shutt '18, Softball, 2015-18
A record-setting hitter and NFCA All-American, Shutt established herself as one of the most decorated players in Elon softball's Division I era.

Shutt, a four-year starter, played in 209 games and compiled a .373 career batting average with 253 hits, 63 doubles, 13 triples, nine home runs, 114 RBIs and 142 runs scored. Her 63 career doubles remain an Elon and CAA record.

Shutt capped her career with a standout senior season in 2018, batting .425 with 74 hits and 21 doubles. Her batting average ranks second on Elon's single-season list, while her 74 hits are also the second-most in a season in program history. She twice set the program's single-season doubles record with 21 in both 2016 and 2018.

Following her senior campaign, Shutt was named a Third Team NFCA All-American, becoming just the second Elon female student-athlete to earn All-America recognition during the university's Division I era. She also received NFCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region First Team honors in 2016 and 2018.

Shutt was a three-time First Team All-CAA selection and also earned CAA All-Rookie and All-Tournament Team honors during her career. She finished her time at Elon ranked among the program's career leaders in batting average, hits, triples, RBIs, slugging percentage and runs scored.

Clint York '83, Football, 1980-83
A cornerstone of Elon's offensive line during one of the most successful periods in program history, York helped the Fighting Christians capture back-to-back NAIA national championships in 1980 and 1981.

York was a starter on the offensive line for both championship teams and developed into a mainstay at center, starting 34 consecutive games during his Elon career.

His individual play was recognized in 1982 when he earned First Team All-South Atlantic Conference honors.

York's impact on Elon Athletics has continued well beyond his playing career. Along with former teammate Harold Hill, York established an ongoing athletic scholarship to support Elon student-athletes, extending his contributions to future generations of the Phoenix.
