ELON – The Elon volleyball team extended its winning streak to three matches with a 3-1 (25-17, 17-25, 25-10, 25-13) victory over Stony Brook on Friday evening at Schar Center.

The Phoenix improved to 6-9 overall and 3-2 in CAA play, earning its third consecutive league victory. Elon has won three straight CAA matches for the first time since 2024.

Caroline Berlekamp turned in one of the best offensive performances of her career, recording a season-high 12 kills without an attack error on 16 swings for a .750 hitting percentage. The .750 clip established a new career high for the senior, while her 12 kills finished one shy of her career-best 13.

Cameron Lanier and
Anna Sewell added 11 kills apiece. Lanier also finished with 11 digs for a double-double and contributed a solo block and block assist, while Sewell hit .235 and added a solo block.
April Rice and
Kayla Palmer each dished out 18 assists. Palmer added 13 digs and two service aces, while
Casey Brower led Elon with 15 digs.
Lindsey Murphy contributed 11 digs and a service ace.

Ella Sanders led Stony Brook (8-7, 2-3 CAA) with 14 kills, while Taryn Su recorded 14 assists and Zayda Fuertez added a team-high 21 digs.

THE RUNDOWN
- Stony Brook jumped out to an 8-3 advantage in the opening set before Elon began to chip away at the deficit. The Phoenix pulled within two at 8-6 behind a block from Berlekamp and Allie Schultz and a Seawolves attack error, but Stony Brook responded to extend its lead to 11-6. Elon answered with three straight points and eventually tied the frame at 12-all following a Lanier kill and another Stony Brook attack error. After the Seawolves briefly regained a 13-12 advantage, the Phoenix used a 5-0 run to take control, with kills from Berlekamp and Catherine Rucker, a Lanier solo block and a Brower service ace giving Elon a 17-13 lead. Stony Brook battled back to within one at 18-17, but the Maroon and Gold scored the final seven points of the frame. Sewell and Rucker each recorded kills during the closing run before Sewell finished off the 25-17 victory.
- Stony Brook opened the second set with a 4-0 run and extended its advantage to 7-1 before Elon began to chip away. The Phoenix pulled within five at 9-4 following kills from Lanier and Schultz, but the Seawolves answered and stretched their lead to 14-6. Elon cut the deficit to seven at 14-7 on a Sewell kill, but Stony Brook carried a 15-7 advantage into the media timeout. The Seawolves continued to control the frame and eventually pushed their lead to double figures at 20-9. Elon scored four of the next five points, highlighted by a Rucker kill and consecutive Stony Brook attack errors, to trim the deficit to 21-13, but the Seawolves held off the late push. Berlekamp and another Stony Brook attack error helped Elon fight off two set points before Quinn Anderson closed the frame with a kill for a 25-17 Stony Brook victory, evening the match at 1-1.
- The teams traded points throughout the early portion of the third set and were tied at 6-all before Elon began to pull away. The Phoenix scored seven unanswered points, highlighted by four Berlekamp kills and a Rucker service ace, to take a 13-6 advantage. Stony Brook briefly stopped the run, but Berlekamp answered with another kill as Elon carried a 15-7 lead into the media timeout. The Maroon and Gold continued to pull away after the break, scoring six straight points behind Palmer's serve to extend the advantage to 21-7. Palmer recorded consecutive service aces during the run, while Lanier and Schultz added kills. The Seawolves trimmed the deficit to 21-9, but Elon closed out the frame by scoring four of the final five points. A Sewell kill gave the Phoenix set point before a Stony Brook attack error finished off the 25-10 victory and gave Elon a 2-1 lead in the match.
- Elon carried that momentum into the fourth set, scoring the first three points before eventually taking a 6-4 advantage on a Sewell kill. The Phoenix then used four consecutive Stony Brook attack errors to stretch its lead to 10-4. After the Seawolves cut the deficit to 12-9, Schultz recorded a kill before a Stony Brook setting error sent Elon into the media timeout ahead 15-9. Lanier and Schultz added consecutive kills out of the break to make it 17-9. Stony Brook pulled within six at 19-13, but the Phoenix closed the match by scoring the final six points. Sewell recorded a kill and Murphy followed with a service ace before a Lanier kill gave Elon match point. A Stony Brook attack error completed the 25-13 victory and the 3-1 match win.
