Elon Hosts Wofford On Homecoming Weekend

Phoenix Eyes Fifth Straight Home Win

ELON – Following a CAA setback at New Hampshire, the Elon football team (4-2) returns to Rhodes Stadium to host Wofford (3-3) for Homecoming on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET.

The Phoenix enters the weekend 3-0 at Rhodes Stadium this season and will look to remain unbeaten at home. Elon is searching for its fifth consecutive home victory dating back to last season, and second straight win over Wofford following a 26-0 victory over the Terriers in 2022.

GAME INFORMATION
SETTING THE STAGE
  • Elon returns to Rhodes Stadium with a 4-2 overall record and 2-2 mark in CAA play following a 30-23 loss at New Hampshire. The Phoenix outgained the Wildcats 464-355 and held a 272-54 advantage on the ground, but a late comeback came up just short when Elon reached the New Hampshire 7-yard line in the final seconds.
  • Freshman Kamerin McDowell-Moore turned in an Elon all-time rushing performance at New Hampshire, rushing for a career-high 273 yards and two touchdowns on 29 carries. His 273 yards were the fourth-most in a game in Elon history and the most by a freshman in program history.
  • Elon returns to Rhodes for its Homecoming matchup against Wofford, where the Phoenix is 3-0 this season. Elon has earned home victories over Glenville State, Sacred Heart and Maine and has outscored opponents 109-45 at Rhodes Stadium this season.
  • Wofford enters Saturday with a 3-3 overall record and a 2-2 mark in Southern Conference play. The Terriers are coming off a 32-25 road victory over Furman, snapping a three-game losing streak. Quarterback Ethan Drumm threw for 304 yards in the victory, while Isaiah Scott finished with 193 receiving yards.
  • The Phoenix and Terriers met every season between 2002 and 2013 with 11 of those meetings coming as Southern Conference foes. Elon last met Wofford in 2022 at Gibbs Stadium when the Phoenix shut out Wofford 26-0.

LIGHTS, KAM-ERA, ACTION
  • McDowell-Moore turned in a record-setting performance at New Hampshire, rushing for a career-high 273 yards and two touchdowns on 29 carries. His 273 yards were the fourth-most in a single game in Elon history and the most ever by an Elon freshman. He averaged 9.4 yards per carry and scored on runs of 5 and 40 yards.
  • The performance marked McDowell-Moore's third 100-yard game and third two-touchdown game of the season. His 273 rushing yards were also the most by a freshman at any level of college football this season and the second-highest single-game total by an FCS player.
  • McDowell-Moore was named CAA Offensive Player of the Week following the performance, giving him three conference weekly honors through six games. He previously earned CAA Rookie of the Week after rushing for 88 yards and two touchdowns at Davidson and CAA Co-Offensive Rookie of the Week following his 126-yard, two-touchdown performance against Maine.
  • The Tarboro native is fifth nationally and first in the CAA in rushing yards (754) and rushing yards per game (125.7). He is second in the CAA in rushing touchdowns with six and is fifth in the league in scoring (6.0).

MAN IN THE MIDDLE
  • Preseason All-American Brodie Carroll continues to lead the Elon defense through six games. Carroll recorded 10 tackles and a tackle for loss at New Hampshire, extending his streak to four consecutive games with double-digit tackles and seven straight CAA contests.
  • Carroll remains at the center of Elon's defensive success, leading the Phoenix in tackles while continuing to rank among the team's leaders in tackles for loss and sacks. His career-high 16-tackle performance against Sacred Heart included 11 solo stops, a sack and two pass breakups and earned him CAA Defensive Player of the Week and Stats Perform FCS National Defensive Player of the Week honors.
  • Carroll has been at the center of Elon's defensive success in 2026, leading the Phoenix in tackles, tackles for loss and sacks while ranking second on the team in pass breakups. Carroll is also top-10 in the CAA in all the categories listed.

IN THE TRENCHES
  • Elon's defensive front continued its strong start at New Hampshire, holding the Wildcats to just 54 rushing yards on 26 attempts and 2.1 yards per carry. The Phoenix added a season-high nine tackles for loss, with Trey Woods leading the way with 2.5 TFLs. Chaz Knox recorded a tackle for loss and quarterback hurry, and Rylan Shibley added a half tackle for loss and two quarterback hurries.
  • The performance followed another disruptive effort against Maine. Elon recorded six tackles for loss, two sacks and eight quarterback hurries in the 43-17 victory. The pressure helped hold Maine to 147 passing yards despite 47 attempts, while the Black Bears averaged just 3.1 yards per pass attempt.
  • Through six games, Elon has allowed 543 rushing yards on 176 attempts, an average of just 90.5 yards per game and 3.1 yards per carry. The Phoenix has held half of its opponents to 55 rushing yards or fewer, including New Hampshire (54), Davidson (49), Glenville State (50).
  • Elon has produced 33 tackles for loss and 11 sacks through six games. The Phoenix has also been credited with 19 quarterback hurries over the last four games alone, including 11 combined against Maine and New Hampshire.

RHODES RUN
  • Elon is off to a 3-0 start at Rhodes Stadium in 2026, earning wins over Glenville State, Sacred Heart and Maine. The Phoenix has outscored those three opponents 109-45.
  • Home-field success has been a consistent theme under head coach Tony Trisciani. Since taking over the program in 2019, Trisciani has helped make Rhodes Stadium one of Elon's biggest advantages. Elon has posted winning home records in five consecutive seasons and a win over Wofford would make it six straight.
  • Elon has been particularly strong at Rhodes Stadium over the past several seasons, highlighted by a perfect 6-0 home record in 2022. The Phoenix also went unbeaten at home in CAA play in both 2022 and 2023.
  • The Phoenix has also enjoyed recent success on Homecoming, posting a 3-1 record in its past four such games. Elon defeated UAlbany 27-3 in 2022, Monmouth 28-26 in 2023 and Campbell 50-27 in 2024 before falling to Villanova in 2025.
