ELON – The Elon women's basketball team (11-12, 6-5 CAA) continues conference play this week, traveling to Drexel on Friday night, seeking their second straight CAA win.
Tipoff against the Dragons (14-8, 7-4 CAA) is set for 6 p.m. ET at the Daskalakis Athletic Center.

INSIDE THE MATCHUPS
vs. Drexel
- Series record: Drexel leads 17-5
- The Phoenix has lost eight straight against the Dragons, most recently falling 63-56 in Schar Center last season on Feb. 23, 2025.
- Drexel (14-8, 7-4 CAA) went 1-1 last weekend, defeating Hampton 75-42, before falling to Monmouth in double overtime 62-60.
- The Dragons were picked to finish second in the 2025-26 CAA Preseason Poll, with two first-place votes.
- Amaris Baker earned a spot on the All-CAA Preseason First Team, while Deja Evans was named to the All-CAA Honorable Mention Team.
- Baker leads the CAA, averaging 19.5 PPG, while Laine McGurk also averages double-figures at 12.4.
- Evans averages a team-high 6.8 rebounds per game, while Grace O'Neill is third in the CAA, averaging 4.0 assists per game.
- As a team, the Dragons lead the CAA in assists per game (15.5) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.26), and are second in the conference in field-goal percentage (41.5) and free-throw percentage (74.4).

1. Bounced Back Strong
Elon went 1-1 last weekend, falling 67-61 at North Carolina A&T before earning a dominant 75-52 win over William & Mary. Against the Aggies,
Laila Anderson (14),
Ashanti Fox (13), and
Tamia Watkins (12) scored in double figures, while
Quinzia Fulmore led the team with eight rebounds and
Maraja Pass recorded five assists. The Phoenix responded with a statement win over the Tribe, led by
Tamia Watkins' third double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Anderson added 13 points, with LaNae Corbett (11) and Fox (10) also reaching double figures. Elon totaled 48 rebounds, its highest in CAA play this season, and recorded a 27-point margin of victory, the largest in CAA play this year and the program's biggest since Jan. 10, 2020.
2. Triple Threat Tamia
Tamia Watkins was named CAA Rookie of the Week for the third time this season on Monday after a strong week for the Phoenix. Over the two games, Watkins averaged 14.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.0 steal per contest. The Kershaw, N.C., native opened the week with 12 points on 5-of-10 shooting at North Carolina A&T while adding six rebounds. She followed with her third double-double of the season, posting a team-high 16 points on 4-of-7 shooting and a perfect 8-for-8 effort from the free-throw line. Watkins also grabbed 10 rebounds and added two assists and a steal in the win.
3. Anderson Ascending
Senior guard
Laila Anderson has been one of Elon's most consistent offensive contributors, scoring in double figures in eight straight games. Over that stretch, she is averaging 16.7 points per game while shooting 47.8 percent from the field. Anderson opened the run with 13 points at UNCW, followed by a 21-point effort at College of Charleston on Jan. 18, where she knocked down four three-pointers. She added 15 points against North Carolina A&T and posted a season-high 22 points at Hampton on 8-of-13 shooting, along with a season-best five steals. Anderson continued her strong play with 19 points against Charleston, 16 in the win over Towson, and capped the stretch with 14 points at North Carolina A&T and 13 against William & Mary.
4. Ranked and Rising
Elon has been one of the most statistically impactful teams in the conference, driven by its depth and defensive pressure. The Phoenix average 29.0 points per game off the bench, ranking first in the CAA and 10th nationally, with
Ashanti Fox leading the reserves at 8.5 points per game. Elon's defensive intensity has translated into takeaways, as the Phoenix force 20.14 turnovers per game, which ranks second in the CAA and 47th nationally. Elon has been equally effective in steals, ranking second in the CAA and 83rd nationally with 9.7 steals per game.
5. Pass = TWO-WAY IMPACT
Maraja Pass has been a steady two-way presence for the Phoenix this season, leading the team in assists and is second in steals. Pass is tied for sixth in the conference in assists per game (3.3), including a season-high seven assists and zero turnovers vs. Towson. Her 2.0 assist-to-turnover ratio ranks fourth in the CAA. She shares the team lead, averaging 1.4 steals per game, and has started 54 consecutive games for the Phoenix.
