Â
The Phoenix answered with two runs in the bottom of the second to tie the game.
Lani Wyrick reached on a hit-by-pitch to lead off the inning and moved to second on a stolen base.
Mary Moss Wirt followed with a walk, and both runners advanced into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt. Dayton recorded the second out of the inning after catching Wyrick in a rundown between third and home.
Â
Gardner then worked a full count before delivering a triple to left field to score Wirt. Hessenthaler followed with a single to shallow left, driving in Gardner to tie the contest at 2-2.

Elon took the lead with two more runs in the bottom of the third. Hatzopoulos opened the frame with a single and advanced to second on a passed ball. Baulsir then launched a two-run home run on a 1-1 count to give Elon a 4-2 advantage.
