RICHMOND, Va. – Elon freshman guard
Ashanti Fox was named the CAA Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week for the third time this season, the conference announced on Monday.
Fox averaged 11.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals in Elon's 2-0 weekend sweep. On Friday, Fox reached double figures with 12 points, going a perfect 2-for-2 from three, and shared the team lead with four assists in the team's win over Campbell. She also added five rebounds, two steals, and a block. In the team's win over Northeastern on Sunday, Fox reached double figures again with 11 points, shooting 6-for-7 at the free-throw line with a team-best two steals.
Fox is averaging 2.3 assists per game, ranking second on the team and 17th in the CAA.
In addition to Fox earning the weekly award for the third time this season after previously receiving the honor on Jan. 19 and Jan. 26, Elon has now claimed the CAA Rookie of the Week accolade six times. Elon's six total rookie accolades match Campbell for the most earned by a CAA school this season.
