ELON – Elon suffered their first home loss of the 2026 season to Longwood Tuesday night. The Phoenix was bested 8-3 at Latham Park.
Brian DuRoff and
Jake Hajdu continued their strong starts to 2026. Both had multi-hit games against the Lancers, and each drove in a run.
Connor Roche collected a single, an RBI and reached three times.
Cole Miller made the first appearance and start of his college career against Longwood. Miller pitched three innings and surrendered just one hit.
RJ Latkowski continued his run of scoreless outings with two innings of relief.
Elon falls to 4-4 on the season while Longwood improves to 7-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Miller held the Lancers in check over the first three innings. Longwood scratched one run across in the second inning on an RBI double.
- The Lancers would stretch their lead in the middle innings. The visitors scored three runs in the 4th before bringing home a run in the 5th and two in the 6th.
- After Longwood added another run in the 7th inning, Elon brought home their first run of the game. A Jake Hajdu single scored Kevin Denty from second base to trim the deficit.
- The Phoenix answered with a run in the 8th and the 9th but could not overcome the Longwood lead.

- Brian DuRoff continued his strong start. DuRoff extended his hitting streak to six games after a 2-for-5 night.
- Jake Hajdu collected another multi-hit night on Tuesday. Hajdu is batting .368 (7-for-19) in five home games this season.
- Connor Roche reached safely three times on Tuesday. Roche has reached base safely in all eight games this season.
- Kevin Denty returned to the hit column with a double.
- Cole Miller pitched three innings in his collegiate debut. Miller struck out a batter and allowed just one hit.
- RJ Latkowski allowed one hit over two innings of scoreless relief. In four appearances, Latkowski has a WHIP of 0.75.

Elon will return to the diamond with a weekend series against Fairfield. First pitch between the Phoenix and Stags on Friday will be at 4 PM.
