GREENSBORO – The Elon softball team fell to UNCG, 9-0, in its second game of the day on Saturday at the Elon-UNCG Tournament.

The loss drops the Phoenix to 4-13 overall, while UNCG improved to 12-7.

- Chana Wolfe suffered the loss in the circle, falling to 0-9 after pitching 2.0 innings and allowing three runs on five hits.Â
The Rundown
The Spartans struck first in the bottom of the first inning. Elon induced the first two outs of the frame, but a two-run homer by UNCG put the Phoenix behind early, 2-0.

UNCG added to its lead with a five-run bottom of the third. The Spartans used a pair of doubles and a couple of singles to plate five runs and extend the advantage to 7-0 after three innings.

Two more runs crossed the plate for the Spartans in the bottom of the fourth, pushing the lead to 9-0. Elon was retired quietly in the top of the fifth as the game concluded with the 9-0 final.

The Phoenix closes out the tournament with a rematch against the Spartans on Sunday. First pitch is set for 1:30 p.m., and the game will stream on ESPN+.
