In the team's win over William & Mary, she recorded her third double-double of the season, finishing with a team-high 16 points on 4-for-7 shooting and a perfect 8-for-8 performance from the free-throw line. She also pulled down 10 rebounds, six of them offensive, while adding two assists and a steal in 22 minutes of action.
Watkins leads the team, averaging 5.2 rebounds per game, and her 5.7 rebounds per game in CAA play rank the highest of any rookie in the conference.
In addition to Watkins earning the weekly award for the third time this season after previously receiving the honor on Dec. 1 and Feb. 2, Elon has now claimed the CAA Rookie of the Week accolade four consecutive times, dating back to Jan. 19, with
Ashanti Fox winning the previous two.
Elon's five total rookie accolades match Campbell for the most earned by a CAA school this season.
Watkins and the Phoenix (11-12, 6-5 CAA) play at Drexel on Friday.
