WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Elon Phoenix women's basketball team's season came to an end Friday night, falling to Drexel 68-53, in the quarterfinals of the 2026 Credit Union 1 CAA Women's Basketball Championship at CareFirst Arena.
Ashanti Fox led the team with 17 points, including three triples and a perfect night from the free-throw line.
Quinzia Fulmore recorded her second double-double of the season with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Elon finished the season 16–16, its most wins since going 17–12 in the 2021–22 season.
THE RUNDOWN
- Elon led 4-0 before Drexel tied the game at 4-4. The teams traded baskets before the Dragons went on an 8-0 run and closed the quarter on a 4-3 run to lead 20-12 after one.
- Drexel stretched its lead to double digits at 26-16 before the Phoenix answered with a 10-3 run to cut it to 29-26. An and-one from Quinzia Fulmore later pulled Elon within two at 31-29, but the Dragons held a 37-32 lead at the half.
- The Dragons pushed their lead back to double figures, opening the third quarter on an 11-3 run to go up 48-35 with 4:00 left. Elon held Drexel scoreless the rest of the quarter to cut the deficit to 48-43 heading into the final frame.
- Drexel responded with a 14-2 run to take a 62-45 lead with 3:22 remaining. Elon worked to close the gap, but the deficit was too much as the Phoenix fell 68-53.
