WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Elon softball team suffered its first loss in CAA play, falling 1-0 to UNCW on Sunday in the series finale at Boseman Stadium.

Elon moves to 11-19 overall and 5-1 in conference play. UNCW improves to 16-13 with a 4-2 mark in the CAA.

In the Circle
- Anna Dew took the loss, falling to 7-5 on the season. The junior struck out five batters in a complete-game effort, allowing five hits and one run.
- Dew's counterpart, UNCW's Camille Hamilton, tossed a one-hitter and also struck out five.

The Rundown
UNCW applied early pressure in the bottom of the second inning, placing runners on the corners with no outs after back-to-back singles. Elon escaped the threat, recording the next three outs on a strikeout, a caught stealing and another strikeout.

The Seahawks broke through in the fourth inning, scoring on a groundout to take a 1-0 lead.

Elon was unable to generate offense late, going without a baserunner from the fifth through the seventh innings as UNCW secured the shutout.
