ELON – The Elon softball team fell to Campbell, 12-0, on Saturday in the second game of its CAA series at Hunt Softball Park.

The setback marked the second straight loss for the Phoenix (11-22, 5-3 CAA) in the three-game set, as Elon was dealt its first series loss of the season. Campbell improved to 19-14 overall and 6-2 in league play.

At the Plate
- Elon recorded four hits in the contest, with three coming from Lani Wyrick. The sophomore set a new career high in hits, going 3-for-3. Greta Hessenthaler added the other hit for the maroon and gold and also reached base via a hit-by-pitch.
In the Circle
- Chana Wolfe got the start and took the loss to fall to 1-11. The senior allowed three earned runs over 4.2 innings while striking out a season-high four batters.
The Rundown
The Phoenix had its best chance to score in the bottom of the third inning. Hessenthaler and Wyrick reached base with one out, bringing the heart of Elon's lineup to the plate. Campbell, however, stranded both runners with a pair of strikeouts to end the threat.

Campbell struck first in the top of the fourth with a three-run home run. With a runner on, the Camels extended the inning after a batter reached on a Phoenix error with two outs before delivering the round-tripper to left, taking a 3-0 lead.

The Camels added three more runs in the top of the fifth. A sacrifice fly brought in one run before a two-out home run pushed the lead to 6-0. Elon again had Hessenthaler and Wyrick reach base in the bottom half of the inning, but a strikeout ended the scoring opportunity.

Campbell broke the game open in the top of the sixth with six runs, extending its lead to 12-0. Elon was retired in order in the bottom of the frame as the game ended via run rule.
