The Rundown
The Aggies plated the first run in the top of the second inning. Elon recorded the first two outs before N.C. A&T reached on an infield single. The visitors took advantage of the extended life in the inning, scoring on a single and a Phoenix error to take a 1-0 lead.

Elon tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the third. Fitzpatrick and Gardner reached on a single and a walk, respectively, to lead off the inning. A sacrifice bunt moved both runners into scoring position before a sacrifice fly by Hessenthaler brought home Fitzpatrick.

N.C. A&T quickly retook the lead in the top of the fourth. The Aggies' Bria Finley led off the frame with a solo home run to center field to give the visitors a 2-1 advantage.

The Phoenix responded with a four-run fifth inning to take control of the game. After the first two batters reached on singles, Elon tied the game on an Aggies error before moving ahead, 3-2, on a Wyrick sacrifice fly to center field. The Phoenix added two more runs later in the inning on another N.C. A&T error to extend the lead to 5-2.

Miller tossed a clean sixth inning, but the Aggies drew a leadoff walk in the seventh. The Phoenix escaped any trouble, however, retiring the side on a foul out and a double play turned by Baulsir to secure the 5-2 victory.
