ELON – A dominant relief outing from junior
Anna Dew along with a rally in the third inning helped the Elon softball team to a 3-2 win over North Carolina A&T on Sunday, securing the series sweep at Hunt Softball Park.

Elon (7-15, 3-0 CAA) swept its opening series of league play for the fourth straight season. The Phoenix also moved to 12-0 against the Aggies (11-15, 0-3 CAA) as CAA opponents.

In the Circle
- Dew was dominant in relief, improving to 5-3 on the season. The Harrisburg, N.C., native allowed one hit over 5.1 scoreless innings, striking out eight.
- Chana Wolfe started the contest, pitching 1.2 innings while allowing four hits and two runs before giving way to Dew.
At the Plate
- The Phoenix recorded six hits in the contest, with five coming in the bottom of the third inning. Chloe Hatzopoulos went 2-for-3 at the plate, recording her team-best sixth multi-hit game of the season.
- Hatzopoulos had one of Elon's three RBIs along with Greta Hessenthaler and Lani Wyrick. Wyrick recorded the lone extra-base hit for Elon with a double.
The Rundown
The Aggies struck first in the top of the second. North Carolina A&T scored a pair of runs with two outs on an RBI single as Elon fell behind 2-0.

Elon answered with a three-run bottom of the third.
Payton Swart reached on a leadoff single and moved to second on a groundout. She later scored on an RBI single up the middle by Hatzopoulos to put the Phoenix on the board. Hatzopoulos would later score to tie the contest at 2-all on a Wyrick RBI double to left field.

The Phoenix continued the rally in the inning as Hessenthaler drove a single through the right side to score Wyrick. Hessenthaler advanced to second on a
Teagan Baulsir single, with both runners moving into scoring position on a flyout. The pair would be stranded following a groundout to end the inning.

Dew cruised through the remainder of the contest, allowing only one hit to the Aggies, which came in the top of the sixth inning. She recorded her seventh and eighth strikeouts in the seventh before the game ended with a groundout to secure the 3-2 win.
