ELON – The Elon baseball team dropped a 13-1 decision in seven innings William & Mary on Saturday afternoon at Latham Park, as the Tribe clinched the CAA series victory.

Elon fell to 13-21 overall and 5-12 in CAA play with the loss, while William & Mary improved to 14-19 overall and 6-8 in league action.

The Tribe set the tone early, scoring in the first inning before breaking the game open with a four-run fourth. William & Mary added a run in the fifth and put the game out of reach with a seven-run seventh inning to invoke the run rule.

Elon was limited to three hits on the afternoon and was held scoreless through the first six innings before pushing across its lone run in the bottom of the seventh on a solo home run by
Gavin Bogdanchik.

Owen Winebarger was charged with the loss for the Phoenix, surrendering six runs (five earned) across six innings while striking out four and walking a pair. Zack Potts earned the win for the Tribe in a designated three-inning start.
