ELON – The Elon women's tennis team (14-4) closed out its regular season in dominant fashion Saturday, sweeping Coastal Carolina (13-5) on Senior Day at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center, 4-0.
The Phoenix rolled through doubles to secure the opening point with wins on Courts 1 and 2, then carried that momentum into singles play, posting three straight-set victories while dropping just 10 total games in those matches. It marked Elon's eighth sweep of the season.
Elon honored its graduating seniors Madison Cordisco and Helen Sarikulaya in a pre-match ceremony. Cordisco clinched the doubles point for Elon alongside partner Alexis Nyborg.Â

How It Happened
- Elon grabbed early control of the match by winning on the top two doubles courts to take a 1-0 lead.
- Simone Bergeron and Mariana Reding set the tone on Court 1, defeating Aida Mitrache and Brooke Rogers 6-1 for their 11th win as a duo this season and third straight victory together. The win was Bergeron's 44th career dual doubles victory, tying the junior with Suzanne Zenoni for the 13th most in program history.Â
- At No. 2 doubles, Cordisco and Nyborg clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 win over Brunelle Kouam and Francisca Laundes, their fifth win together this spring. The pairing has clinched back-to-back doubles points for the Phoenix.Â
- Cornelia Kack and Lisa Kranec were down 4-3 on Court 3 when play was halted.
- Bergeron extended Elon's lead to 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-2 win on Court 2 over Kouam. The victory marked her 11th singles win of the season and her third in a row, improving her to 6-1 at the No. 2 position.Â
- Kranec followed with a 6-2, 6-0 win on Court 5 against Rogers to push the lead to 3-0. It was her eighth singles victory of the spring and her 20th dual-match win of the regular season.
- Nyborg sealed the match for the Phoenix with a 6-4, 6-1 victory on Court 4 over Laundes, marking her 11th singles win of the spring. The junior has now won six of her last seven completed matches and is tied with Bergeron for the third most wins on the Phoenix.Â
- At the time play was stopped, Kack led Diana Zuba 2-1 in the second set on Court 1 after dropping the first. Reding led 4-3 in her second set against Mitrache after taking the opening set 6-4, while Cordisco held a 4-2 advantage in the second set against Sarah Clark after losing the first.
- The sweep was Elon's eighth of the season in 14 wins and marked the program's first-ever victory over Coastal Carolina, improving to 1-2 all-time against the Chanticleers and avenging last season's road loss.
- Elon has now won seven of its last eight matches to close out the regular season.
- The Phoenix finished the regular season 14-4 overall and 10-1 at home, marking its first season with just one home loss since 2022.
