Phoenix Takes Finale, Series Over Campbell

Winebarger Sets Career Highs; Five Phoenix Have Multi-Hit Performances

BUIES CREEK – Behind a dominant outing from Owen Winebarger and a balanced offensive attack, the Elon baseball team (16-23, 8-13 CAA) closed out its series against Campbell (25-14, 17-4 CAA) with a 10-5 victory on Sunday. The victory secured a 2-1 series win for the Phoenix.

Winebarger delivered one of his strongest performances of the season, tossing 7.2 innings while holding a potent Campbell lineup in check. The right-hander threw a career-high 109 pitches and struck out a career-best six batters to earn the win. Mike Staiano recorded the final four outs to pick up his fourth save of the season.

Offensively, Elon broke the game open late. Jared Hall provided the biggest swing of the day with a go-ahead three-run home run in the seventh inning, while Brian DuRoff put the game out of reach in the ninth with a bases-clearing double.

Five Phoenix players recorded multi-hit performances, and four different hitters reached base at least four times in the win.
