Elon To Face Georgia In NCAA Championship First Round

Phoenix Making First NCAA Appearance Since 2019

ELON – Elon is back in the NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championship for the first time since 2019 where it will face No. 12 seed Georgia in the opening round in Athens, Georgia.

The Pheonix secured the Coastal Athletic Association's automatic berth after winning the 2026 CAA Tournament title, its second CAA crown since joining the conference in 2015. This will be Elon's fourth all-time NCAA Tournament appearance at the Division I level (2007, 2014, 2019).

Elon dethroned four-time defending CAA champion UNCW in the conference's championship match, upending the top-seeded Seahawks 4-1 at William & Mary's Mackesy Tennis Center. The Phoenix rallied from a break down on two doubles courts to take the opening point and got singles victories from Oskar Antinheimo, Jack Curtis and Rafael Ymer to clinch the championship.

Georgia enters the NCAA Tournament with an 18-8 record and is coming off a quarterfinal loss in the SEC Tournament to LSU. The Bulldogs are ranked No. 12 in the current ITA poll after going 9-5 in conference play during the regular season. This will be the second NCAA Tournament meeting between Elon and Georgia, with the Bulldogs winning the first in 2019.

The winner of the Elon-Georgia match will face either NC State or Middle Tennessee in the second round in Winston-Salem. For more information on the 64-team field, visit NCAA.com.
