NORFOLK, Va. – The Elon women's tennis team (12-4) dropped a match to No. 63 Old Dominion (7-4) on Saturday, falling 4-1 to the Monarchs at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.

Simone Bergeron notched a ranked win for Elon's lone point of the day. All four of Elon's losses have come against teams that have been ranked at some point this season.

The Rundown

• The Monarchs took the doubles point with wins at the Nos. 2 and 3 spots. Bergeron and Mariana Reding held a 5-4 lead on Court 1 when their match was halted.
• Old Dominion took a 2-0 lead with a win on Court 5.
• Bergeron picked up a win at the No. 2 spot when her opponent Victoria Matasova, the No. 117 player in the ITA singles rankings, retired with Bergeron leading 7-6 (5), 3-0. Bergeron's first set tiebreak win improved her career tiebreak record to 8-2.
• The Monarchs clinched the match with victories at the Nos. 1 and 6 positions.
• On Court 4, Alexis Nyborg led Uladzislava Manzhos 7-5, 4-1 when her match was halted. Nyborg trailed 5-1 in the first set before rallying back with six straight games.
• Reding was about to enter a final set when her match against Ulyana Romanova was stopped.
• The loss snapped Elon's five-match winning streak.
