GREENSBORO – The Elon women's tennis team (13-4) won its final road tilt of the regular season Wednesday, sweeping UNCG (3-16) at the UNCG Tennis Courts, 5-0.
The Phoenix won all three doubles matches to go ahead 1-0 and added four straight-set singles victories to complete its seventh sweep of the campaign.Â
How It Happened
- Elon won on all three doubles courts to take a 1-0 lead.
- Simone Bergeron and Mariana Reding were the first Elon duo to finish, defeating Sydney Bly and Lauren Thomson 6-4 on Court 1. It was their 10th victory of the campaign together, as both secured a third consecutive season with double-digit wins in doubles.
- Playing the No. 2 spot, Alexis Nyborg and Madison Cordisco clinched the doubles point for the Phoenix with a 6-3 triumph over Sophia Cedeno and Ivet Sala-Sanchez. The Elon tandem broke serve in the final game to secure the victory. It was their fourth win together this spring.
- Cornelia Kack and Lisa Kranec wrapped up doubles with a 6-4 victory on Court 3 against Kayley Bushnell and Sofia Somoano. It was their team-best 12th win of the spring.
- Nyborg, who won CAA Player of the Week on Tuesday, put Elon ahead 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-4 victory on Court 4 against Bly. It was Nyborg's 10th win of the spring, as she became the third Phoenix to hit double-digit singles victories on the season, joining Kack and Reding. The junior has now won five of her last six completed matches.
- Kack made it 3-0 for Elon with a 6-3, 6-0 result at the top spot against Cedeno. It was Kack's 12th win of the spring as she bounced back from a loss last time out against No. 63 Old Dominion. The sophomore improved to 5-1 playing the No. 1 position this season.
- Bergeron notched the winning point for the Phoenix with a 6-3, 7-5 win against Sara Kostic on Court 2. Bergeron joined Nyborg in reaching double-digit singles wins on the campaign, becoming the fourth Elon player to do so this spring. Bergeron secured a third straight season with double-digit dual singles victories with the effort.
- Cordisco was able to finish her singles match, winning 6-2, 6-2 against Sala-Sanchez at the No. 6 spot for the final Elon point of the contest. The win was Cordisco's fifth of the spring, with five coming playing the No. 6 position.
- When the match was haled, Reding was tied 5-5 in the second set with Thomson on Court 3 after winning the first set, 6-4. Kranec led 4-3 in her second set against Bushnell after winning the first, 6-2.
- Elon finishes the regular season with a 4-3 record in road matches. This is the first time the Phoenix has finished the regular season with a winning away record since 2021.
- This was Elon's seventh sweep in its 13 victories this spring.
- The Phoenix has now won three straight matches and nine of its last 10 against UNCG.

The Phoenix closes its regular season Saturday against Coastal Carolina at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center. The contest will start at 10 a.m. It will be Elon's Senior Day, with the Phoenix honoring Cordisco and
Helen Sarikulaya in a pre-match ceremony.
