ELON – The Elon baseball team (19-30, 10-19 CAA) was upended in their final home game of the season by the College of Charleston (24-25, 14-12 CAA) Sunday afternoon. The Cougars jumped on the Phoenix early and did not look back in the 11-3 win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Charleston struck first in the top of the second with three runs.
- The Cougars added four more runs in the top of the fourth to take a 7-0 lead.
- Charleston added another four-run inning in the top of the fifth to take an 11-0 advantage.
- Elon got two runs back in the bottom of the fifth. A pair of RBI singles from Brent Smith and Lawson Wheeler cut the deficit to nine.
- The Phoenix added another run back in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI double from Gar Hindle.
- The final three frames were dominated by relief pitching and the Cougars took game three, 11-3.

- Four different Elon relievers delivered scoreless outings out of the bullpen.
- Sam Nomura closed out his Latham Park career with a 1-2-3 inning paired with a strikeout on his final home batter.
