ELON – Elon Athletics announced Wednesday that Maciek Sykut is stepping away as men's tennis head coach, effective Aug. 31, to accept a leadership role outside of collegiate athletics.
 
"I am grateful to Maciek for his leadership and the impact he had on our men's tennis student-athletes," Elon Director of Athletics Jenn Strawley said. "Maciek helped position our men's tennis program for sustained success, building a championship culture on and off the court, highlighted by a CAA Championships and a NCAA Tournament appearance this past spring. I thank Maciek, his wife Erica and their family for their contributions to our Elon community and wish them all the best in this next chapter."
 
Sykut led Elon for two seasons, guiding the Phoenix to consecutive appearances in the CAA championship match. In 2026, Elon captured its second CAA title, earned an NCAA Tournament berth and finished 4-0 against conference opponents. Sykut was named CAA Coach of the Year.
 
"My time at Elon has been one of the most meaningful chapters of my coaching career, and I am deeply grateful for the trust that President Connie Ledoux Book, Director of Athletics Jenn Strawley and this department placed in me to lead this program," Sykut said. "After much reflection, this new opportunity aligns with my passions and affords a greater opportunity to focus on my family in the years ahead. I am proud of the championship culture we have built together, and I have every bit of confidence in the future of Elon men's tennis."
 
A national search for Elon's next men's tennis head coach will begin immediately.
