Each year, Phoenix Club members invest in scholarships for Elon student-athletes and that impact is felt not only during their time on campus, but years after graduation as well. The stories Blake Thompson ‘13, Akeem Langham ‘14, and Miles Williams ‘15 share are just three examples of the ripple effect an Elon student-athlete scholarship can have on numerous lives and communities.
Since graduating from Elon, these Elon football alumni have all felt called to New Orleans, Louisiana, where the three teach at a local school and recently started a football program. Their goal is to help their students develop and find solutions to problems and send them into the world prepared to make an impact. Since going 0-10 their first football season three years ago, the players have developed a hard work ethic which only comes from consistent hard work not by chance to complete the last two seasons with winning records.
As the 2018-19 Phoenix Club membership year comes to a close, please consider clicking here to renew your support of Elon student-athletes by May 31st.
“I never thought about college before Elon came to me and provided me the opportunity to play. Elon believed in me before anybody else did, they told me I could do things that I never thought I could accomplish. Not only did you potentially save a young man’s life, you changed a young man’s life. Now I am at a school where I have the opportunity to impact hundreds of kids daily.”
