Elon Dance Team - General Tryout Timeline & Information

Tryouts for the Elon University Dance Team are conducted annually in a virtual format.
Preliminary Tryout Video | Early February– Mid April (Rolling Review)
Prospective dancers submit a one-minute solo in any dance genre.
Submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis.
Dancers will be notified via email if they are invited to continue in the tryout process.
Preliminary Interview | February – April (Rolling)
Selected dancers participate in a Zoom interview with the coaching staff.
Up to three stakeholders (parents, dance teachers, coaches, etc.) are encouraged to join the interview.
Following interviews, dancers will be notified if they are invited to our virtual tryout weekend.
Virtual Tryout Weekend | Mid/Late April (Friday-Sunday | Fixed Dates)
Technique: Upon invitation to Virtual Tryout Weekend, dancers will receive a list of required technical skills to record and submit.
Choreography: Choreography will be released to dancers Friday morning. Material will include a jazz routine, hip hop routine, and pom sideline.
*All choreography AND technique videos must be submitted by 11:59 PM on Saturday.*
Final Interview: Dancers will be notified Sunday morning if they advance to the Final Interview. Final Interviews are conducted via Zoom on Sunday afternoon/evening and include only the dancer and the coaching staff.
2026-27 Season Tryout Timeline
February 1-April 12, 2026: Preliminary Tryout Video Submission Period (rolling review)
Submission Form: Submit your preliminary tryout video here
Submission period closes at 11:59 PM on April 12, 2026.
February 1-April 15, 2026: Preliminary interviews conducted via Zoom
April 17-18, 2026: Virtual Tryout Weekend
- April 17, 2026: Choreography released at 9:00 AM
- April 18, 2026: Technique & choreography video submissions due by 11:59 PM.
- April 19, 2026: Interview Round
- Morning: Dancers notified regarding whether they are advancing to the interview round.
- Afternoon/Evening: Interviews via Zoom
All deadlines listed above are firm. Late submissions will not be accepted for any stage of the tryout process.
