Bill McCord joined the Phoenix staff as a defensive assistant in June of 2014. He primarily works with Elon’s defensive backs.
McCord came to Elon after two seasons at Bowdoin College where he served as the defensive backs coach. In that time, the Polar Bears posted 16 interceptions. He also worked with special teams units.
Prior to his time at Bowdoin, McCord spent two seasons with the Princeton Tigers as both a linebackers and cornerbacks coach.
McCord has also made coaching stops at Bucknell University (2008-09) where he coached cornerbacks, Franklin & Marshall College (2007) where he was the defensive backs coach, as an assistant coach at Southern Regional High School (2005-06) in New Jersey and at Western Connecticut State University (2004) as the cornerbacks coach.
McCord graduated from Western Connecticut State with a bachelor’s degree in history. He was a four-year letter-winner for the Colonials.
McCord is married to the former Sara Gordon.
