Dr. Kirtida Patel

Dr. Kirtida Patel has been chosen to be the head primary care sports medicine team physician for Elon Athletics.  She is board certified in both family medicine and sports medicine. She completed her undergraduate studies in chemistry and political science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received her medical degree from Ross University. Dr. Patel went on to complete her residency in family medicine at East Carolina University at The Brody School of Medicine, where she also served as Chief Resident. Dr. Patel completed a fellowship in primary care sports medicine at The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey - Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Her sports medicine clinical training was through Rutgers University and Princeton University.

Dr. Patel went on to serve as an assistant clinical professor in sports medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School after completing her fellowship. During this time she also was the head team physician and student health physician at Rider University in New Jersey. Dr. Patel most recently was an assistant clinical professor in sports medicine at East Carolina University prior to accepting a position with Alamance Regional Medical Center. She is an active member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and an author in Netter’s Sports Medicine. Dr. Patel has covered numerous athletic events in the Big East, MAAC and Ivy League Conferences. Her clinical interests include musculoskeletal procedural skills and health issues related to the female athlete.

Dr. Patel lives in Burlington with her husband Dr. David Kasa who is the director of the critical care unit at Alamance Regional Medical Center. She is a big fan of college basketball and enjoys traveling.
