Career Summary
Brian Dawkins finished his career was the best and hardest-working forwards in program history. He was also one of 10 student-athletes in the nation to be named to the 2018 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Give Back Team for his outstanding community service efforts throughout his career as a Phoenix. A native of Jacksonville, Florida, Dawkins finished with 962 career points, just 38 shy of reaching the 1,000-point mark. He also posted 441 career rebounds and was an efficient 50.4% (391-776) shooting from the floor during his career. After being plagued with injuries during his first three seasons, Dawkins made one of the biggest improvements seen from a player in program history during his redshirt junior campaign. During the 2016-17 season, Dawkins averaged 12.9 points per contest, which was a 7.3 point per-game increase from his previous season in 2015-16. His 44.6 percent shooting from three-point range at the time was ranked the sixth-highest for a single season in program history. He also finished second on the team in rebounding with 5.3 points per game during his fourth season. Dawkins ended his career strong posting 12.2 points and 5.4 rebounds as a fifth-year senior. He finished his career with a 2017-18 Preseason All-CAA Second Team selection, a CAA Player of the Week Award during his redshirt junior season, and was the team's "Pound the Rock Award" recipient after the 2016-17 campaign.

2017-18 (Redshirt Senior): Was selected to the 2018 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Give Back Team for his outstanding community service efforts • Named to the Preseason All-CAA Second Team • Finished third on the team in scoring averaging 12.2 points per game and was second in rebounding with 5.4 boards per contest • Played in 29 games, made 28 starts, and averaged around 28 minutes per game • Scored in double figures 18 times during his redshirt senior season • Posted four 20+ point games and led the team in scoring in five games • Grabbed seven or more rebounds in 12 contests, which included three games with 10+ rebounds • Had the team's highest field goal percentage of 49.3% (142-288) • Grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds in a double overtime win over USF (Nov. 30) Scored a season-high 25 points against James Madison (Feb. 27), making a career-best 10 field goals during the contest  Dished out a career-best five assists against Towson (Jan. 2)  Recorded his first-career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds against William Peace (Nov. 11)  Posted his second double-double of the year against Florida International (Nov. 17) with 17 points and 10 rebounds in a triple overtime victory  Had a career-best three blocks versus UNCW (Jan. 11) • Was one of four elected as a team captain.

2016-17 (Redshirt Junior): Was a CAA Player of the Week selection • Played in all 32 games, made 29 starts, and averaged about 26 minutes per contest • Scored in double figures a team-high 25 times during his redshirt junior season • Posted three 20+ point games and led the team in scoring in eight games • Grabbed seven or more rebounds in 10 games • Finished second on the team in scoring averaging 12.9 points per game, nearly a seven-point increase from his 2015-16 season • Owned the team's highest field goal percentage of 51.5% (168-326) and the highest three-point field goal percentage of 44.6% (45-101) • Was second on the team in rebounding averaging 5.3 per contest • Earned CAA Player of the Week honors on Dec. 5 after averaging 17.0 points and 5.0 rebounds against FIU (Nov. 30) and Georgetown (Dec. 4) • Recorded his first-career 20-point game scoring 22 at Hofstra (Jan. 28) Scored a career-high 29 at College of Charleston (Feb. 4)  Finished with 24 points in a victory over UNCW (Feb. 11)  Nearly recorded a double-double against No. 5 Duke with 18 points and nine rebounds  Was close to a double-double against William & Mary (March 4) in the CAA Championship quarterfinals with 19 points and nine boards  Scored in double figures in eight straight games from Dec. 10 until Jan. 7  Scored in double figures during 14 of 18 conference games.

2015-16 (Redshirt Sophomore): Played in 25 games and made 14 starts • Scored in double figures five times during his redshirt sophomore campaign • Missed eight games due to mono • Made his first-career start at Charlotte on Nov. 13 • Scored a season-high 14 points in a win against Drexel on Feb. 18 Finished the year shooting 51.3 percent from the field Grabbed a season-high six rebounds twice in contests against Charlotte (Nov. 13) and Northeastern (Jan. 30)  Scored 11 points in 22 minutes of action on Nov. 16 at No. 24 Michigan • Scored 10 points in 18 minutes against Mount St. Mary's on Nov. 26 • In a win at JMU on Jan. 23, scored 10 points and grabbed five boards • Scored a team-high 12 points and five rebounds in 18 minutes in a win against Delaware.

2014-15 (Sophomore): Did not play the 2014-15 season due to injury and was redshirted.

2013-14 (Freshman): Played in 27 games as a true freshman • Averaged 2.1 points and 1.7 rebounds per game • Scored a season-high seven points against Georgia Southern on Feb. 8 • Hauled down eight rebounds against Central Penn on Dec. 19 • Played a season-high 19 minutes against Georgia Southern on Feb. 8 • Shot 47 percent from the field on the year.

High School: Four-year letterwinner at Bishop Kenny under head coach Jerry Buckley, averaging 15.2 points and 9.1 rebounds as a senior • Two-time district player of the year • Helped Bishop Kenny to district and regional titles in 2013, while also helping his squad reach the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) State Tournament Final Four Two-time All-First Coast selection and participated in the 2013 Florida Association of Basketball Coaches (FABC) All-Star Game • President of the Letterman’s Club and Interact Club, maintaining a 3.3 grade point average.

Fun Facts: His great uncle is former NBA veteran and two-time NBA All-Star Leonard “Truck” Robinson.
