Men's Basketball: Courtney Eldridge 2025-26 Headshot

Courtney Eldridge

Courtney Eldridge joined the Elon men’s basketball staff in July 2025 as an assistant coach under Phoenix head coach Billy Taylor. He served one season with the program in 2025-26 before accepting the same position at Temple University following the conclusion of the season.

Eldridge helped Elon set a Division I era (since 1999-2000) record for points per game (78.1 PPG) in addition to improvements in field goal percentage (.442 to .451) and 3-point field goal percentage (.330 to .343). He was named a 2026 Silver Waves Media Rising Star and one of the organization's Top 100 Most Impactful Mid-Major Assistants in his lone season with the Phoenix.

Eldridge brought more than a decade of experience at University of Iowa to Elon, where he spent 10 seasons on the men's basketball staff. He served as an assistant coach from 2022-25 after holding roles as director of recruiting and player development from 2020-22 and video coordinator from 2017-19. Since 2019, the Hawkeyes won 19 or more games each season, finished in the upper half of the Big Ten standings in seven of eight seasons with Eldridge on staff, and were a consistent presence in the national rankings and NCAA Tournament. Iowa also captured the 2022 Big Ten Tournament championship.

During his tenure at Iowa, Eldridge helped recruit and coach a first-team All-Big Ten honoree in five of eight seasons. Notable players he worked with include two-time National Player of the Year and first-team All-American Luka Garza; Wooden Award and Naismith Trophy finalist Keegan Murray; and third-team All-American and Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year finalist Kris Murray.

Eldridge played collegiately at UNC Greensboro men's basketball from 1998-2002 before embarking on a 12-year professional career in Brazil, Poland, Italy, Belarus, Turkey and the Dominican Republic. In addition to working youth camps, he also served as a high school boys basketball coach at East Boston High School and Saint Joseph Prep School in Brighton, Massachusetts.

Eldridge helped the Spartans post three winning seasons during his playing career, including a 20-win campaign in 2001-02. He was part of the program’s 2001 NCAA Tournament team that captured the Southern Conference Tournament title and finished 19-12. As a senior, he led the team to the SoCon North Division co-championship and an appearance in the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) with a 20-11 record.

A two-time first-team All-SoCon selection (2001, 2002) and two-time SoCon All-Tournament honoree, Eldridge remains the Spartans’ all-time leader in assists (584) and ranks second in program history in steals (226). He holds the school’s single-season assists record (182 in 2002) and the single-season steals record (82 in 2001). Eldridge is also 10th all-time in scoring (1,329 points) and third in career free throws made (395). He is one of five players in program history to have his jersey retired, with his No. 23 honored on April 24, 2002.

Eldridge earned his degree in business administration from UNCG in 2015. He and his wife, Aisha, have four children — Khalil, Dante, Jordan and Aliyah.
