Biography


Career Summary
Dmitri Thompson, a high-flyer during his time with Elon, finished his career as one of the best scorers in program history. A native of Orlando, Florida, Thompson (aka: Meech) became the 41st player in program history to score 1,000-career points when he dropped 18 points in Elon's victory at Hofstra on Jan. 7, 2018. After the conclusion of his career, Thompson played in 129 games, made 90 starts, and finished with 1,193 career points, which ranked 28th on Elon's all-time scoring list. Thompson averaged 9.2 points per contest as a Phoenix during his career. He also grabbed 609 total rebounds to average 4.7 per game in four seasons and scored the ball at an efficient rate of 47.5% (448-944). Thompson had the best season of his career as a senior in 2017-18, scoring 12.3 points per contest, which ranked second on the team and was nearly a four-point increase from his junior campaign. He also tallied 5.3 rebounds per game in 2017-18, the best mark of his career in the maroon and gold. Thompson was known as a high-flyer during his time at Elon, having several of his dunks make SportsCenter's Top-10 Plays. He finished in the semifinals of the 2018 Dark Horse Dunker Fan Vote as a senior, falling two rounds short of making the 2018 State Farm College Slam Dunk Championships. Thompson was also a great student-athlete in the classroom as a CAA Commissioner's Academic Award winner in his career.

2017-18 (Senior): Became the 41st player in program history to join the 1,000-point club at Hofstra (Jan. 7) • Appeared in all 32 games and made 30 starts his senior season • Averaged a career-best 12.3 points and 5.3 rebounds in around 32 minutes per contest • Scored in double figures 21 times and had three games with 20 or more points • Bettered his scoring average in conference play recording 12.7 points per contest • Led the team in scoring during seven contests • Finished with a 45.4% (133-293) field goal percentage • Scored a career-high 27 points on 10-of-15 shooting and grabbed eight rebounds in Elon's CAA Championships First Round game against Delaware (March 3) • Scored his sixth-career 20+ point game at Towson (Jan. 27) • Recorded his third-career double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds against College of Charleston (1/13) • Posted his second-career double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds at Indiana State (Dec. 22) • Recorded his third-career 10+ rebound game, matching a career high with 10 boards against Saint Peter’s (Dec. 2) • Dished out a career-best five assists at UNCG (Dec. 7) • Notched his fifth-career 20+ point game against USF (Nov. 30) scoring 23 against the Bulls • Finished in the semifinals of the 2018 Dark Horse Dunker Fan Vote, falling a two rounds short of making the 2018 State Farm College Slam Dunk Championships.

2016-17 (Junior): Played in all 32 games, made 30 starts and averaged just over 26 minutes per contest during his junior campaign • Averaged 8.9 points and finished third on the team registering 5.0 rebounds per contest • Scored in double figures 12 times and had two games with 20 or more points • Bettered his scoring average in conference play recording 10.2 points per contest • Led the team in scoring during seven contests • Finished with a 48.4% (106-219) field goal percentage • Recorded his first-career double-double tallying season-highs in points (23) and rebounds (10) against Northeastern on Feb. 23 • Scored 22 points on 7-of-12 shooting in a win over Delaware (Feb. 25) • Was the only Elon player to record back-to-back 20+-point games during the season • Became the first player during the season to grab 10 or more rebounds in a game on Jan. 26 at Northeastern • Set nine new career highs during his junior season • His putback dunk against South Florida (Nov. 17) was selected as No. 2 on SportsCenter's Top-10 Plays.

2015-16 (Sophomore): Appeared in all 32 games and made 30 starts during his sophomore season • Scored in double figures in 15 games, with nine of those coming in conference play • Recorded double-digit scoring efforts in eight of the last 12 games of the season • Finished third on the team in scoring averaging 9.9 points per game overall and 10.2 in CAA contests • His 4.8 rebounds per game average was tied for second on the team • Shot the ball 49.4 percent from the floor on 125-of-253 field goal attempts • Scored season-highs of 21 points against Charlotte (Nov. 13) and Towson (Feb. 6) • Made a season-high 75 percent of his shots against Charlotte on Nov. 13, going 9-of-12 from the field • Grabbed a season-high nine rebounds in a victory over Mount St. Mary's on Nov. 26 • Finished 8-of-11 from the floor and scored 17 points against Hofstra (Jan. 28) • Scored 19 points in 33 minutes of action at Northeastern on Jan. 30 • Tallied 16 points and grabbed five rebounds at Delaware on Feb. 27.

2014-15 (Freshman): Played in all 33 games as a true freshman • Averaged 6.1 points and 3.7 rebounds per game • Had five games in double figures, including a season-high 18 points against Central Penn on Dec. 7 • Shot 47 percent from the floor for the season on 84-of-179 field goal attempts • Averaged 6.6 points and shot 53 percent from the floor against CAA opponents.

High School: Helped Orlando Christian Prep to a pair of state titles (2014, 2012) under the direction of head coach Reggie Kohn • A member of National Honor Society • First-team all-state honoree as a senior, averaging 14 points and eight boards per game • Named district player of the year as a senior.
