Rachel Stockdale was added as a member of Karen Barefoot's Elon women's basketball staff in June 2008.
Stockdale helped Elon reach new heights in 2010-11, as the Phoenix finished the season with a 20-13 record – the program’s best season at the Division I level and only the fifth team program history to reach the 20-win plateau. The Phoenix’s 11 victories inside Alumni Gym marks the most home wins in a single season in the Division I era, while the team’s postseason appearance in the Women’s Basketball Invitational was the first since joining Division I. Elon recorded its 20th win of the season in the WBI after a 103-72 drumming of USC Upstate in the first round. Stockdale also led Elon to 12 victories in SoCon play, doubling last year’s total and tying the 2003-04 squad for the most SoCon wins in a season. Under Stockdale's guidance, the Phoenix went 9-2 in January after reeling off seven-straight wins, including the program’s first ever win over Chattanooga on the road. Elon won eight SoCon games in a row from Dec. 20 to Jan. 22, which set the program record for consecutive league wins since Elon officially became a member of an athletic conference in 1977-78.
Stockdale joined the staff after spending the 2007-08 season at Wake Forest University as the women’s basketball team videographer. During her tenure there, she was responsible for breaking down film and coordinating the film exchange between the Demon Deacons and their opponents. She also provided media relations assistance during the 2008 NCAA Basketball Men’s East Regional.
Before joining the staff at Wake Forest, Stockdale worked with Sun Spots/FSN Florida as a marketing assistant where she acted as the primary contact for advertising agencies for execution and fulfillment of campaigns. She also spearheaded street and on-site marketing at Florida State University and the University of Florida basketball and football games, as well as special events including the SEC Football Championship, the BCS Championship and the NCAA Final Four.
As a student-athlete, Stockdale was a four-year varsity letter-winner for the North Carolina State University women’s basketball team. As a team captain, Stockdale led the Wolfpack to three NCAA Tournament appearances. She earned a spot on the All-ACC Freshman Team and received the Peanut Doak Rookie of the Year award. She received her bachelor’s degree from N.C. State in 2006 and was a member of the Dean’s List.
Stockdale is also in charge of film exchange and is responsible for player development and coordinating camps. Her other responsibilities include community outreach, working with the Phoenix Club, supervising team managers and assist with scouting and recruiting.
