In 2012, Virginia Crotty joined the Elon women's lacrosse program as an assistant coach and has helped guide the team through its beginning phases, including the inaugural season in 2014. Crotty is a 2011 graduate of Duke University where she was a two-year starter and a team captain.
Crotty played attack for the Blue Devils from 2008-11 and was fifth in total points her junior and senior seasons. As a senior, she posted a career high 15 assists and 12 draw controls. She also recorded four multi-goal and four multi-assist games as the team advanced to the NCAA semifinals. As a senior, Crotty was named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll.
A native of New Vernon, N.J., Crotty graduated from Oak Knoll High School in 2007. As a four-year varsity letter winner at Oak Knoll, Crotty was a two-time All-American, first team all-state, multiple all-conference, all-division and all metro-choice selection, as well as team MVP and captain. She was also a member of the USA U-19 team that won the World Championship in 2007.
