Elon Dips to No. 13 in National Polls

ELON, N.C. -- Following a loss to FBS member Wake Forest on Saturday evening, the Elon Phoenix football team dropped two spots in both The Sports Network (TSN) Top-25 poll as well as the FCS Coaches poll.  Elon, who is 2-1 through the first three weeks of the season, now ranks 13th in both polls after having been ranked 11th or higher all season.

Defending national title holder Richmond sits atop both polls with a 3-0 record.  Villanova (3-0), Northern Iowa (2-1), Montana (3-0) and William & Mary (3-0) all hold top-five positions in both polls.

The Southern Conference is represented by two other Southern Conference programs this week – Appalachian State (10th in both polls) and Wofford (18th in The Sports Network poll and 17th in the coaches rankings).

Elon currently ranks among the top-five FCS leaders in total offense (fourth; 484.00 yards per game) and total defense (fifth; 207.00 yards allowed per game).

The Phoenix will return home to Rhodes Stadium for a Family Weekend showdown with Georgia Southern at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.  It will be the first SoCon tilt for Elon this season.

Georgia Southern (2-1, 1-0 SoCon) received 12 points in The Sports Network poll this week.
