STAUNTON, VA-- Laura Orlen carded a 161 for her two rounds as the Elon College women's golf team finished 10th at the James Madison Invitational. The tournament was held at the 5,879 yard, Par 72 Country Club of Staunton.
Yale University won the team title by two strokes over UNC Wilmington with 315-307=622. Yale's Kate Fisher won medalist honors by firing a six-over 150 (77-73).
Orlen tied for 25th, while Beth Frace recorded a score of 83-82=165 to tie for 36th. Other Elon scores included Angie Baskette with back-to-back 85's for 170, Adrienne Groeller's 90-87=177 and Annica Anderson with 102-101=203, in her first match of the season.
This was the Fightin' Christians last match of the fall season, with their next action coming March 14-15, 1999 when they host the Second Annual Elon College Women's Invitational.
