ACWORTH, Ga. – Elon women's golf carded a 27-over 315 in Tuesday's final round of the Bentwater Collegiate to finish ninth overall at 79-over 943 (315-313-315) at Bentwater Golf Club. The Phoenix held steady in ninth place throughout the day after entering the final round in the same position.
Louisville (+34) claimed the team title.
Ashley Lafontaine paced the Phoenix with her strongest round of the week, posting a 3-over 75 to finish tied for 14th at +15 (80-76-75). Lafontaine's closing round featured six birdies with three apiece on the front and back nine holes.
Emma Hansen and
Lilli Downer each finished tied for 33rd at +22. Hansen shot 4-over 76 in the final round, while Downer added an 81 on Tuesday to close her tournament at 75-82-81. Hansen delivered one of the highlights of the day with an eagle on the par-5 ninth hole during her final round.
Kelly Zhao placed 39th overall at +24 (80-76-84), and
Lara Rieke, playing her first tournament as a part of the Elon lineup, rounded out the team scoring in 46th at +18 (80-79-83).
Competing as an individual,
Sakura Kawakami finished tied for 56th at +32 (83-84-81). Kawakami provided another standout moment Tuesday, recording an eagle on the par-4 13th hole.
