LYNCHBURG, VA -- The Liberty University women's basketball team used a pair of 29-point scoring periods to defeat future Big South Conference opponent Elon, 58-41, in the Vines Center on Thursday evening.

However, the Fightin' Christians (2-16) did accomplish something that 32 former opponents have been unable to do, holding Elena Kisseleva to single digits. She had her 62-game double-figure scoring streak snapped as she recorded only seven points versus Elon. Sarah Wilkerson was the only player to reach double figures in the game, pouring in 16 points.

Liberty (11-7) led at the half 29-19 and used a 23-6 run in the first nine minutes of the final period run out to a 52-25 lead.

The Fightin' Christians shot 28 percent from the field in the second half and a season-worst 4-for-15 at the free throw stripe for 26.7 percent. Elon missed eight consecutive free throws at one point in the contest.

Shellie Johnson (Jr., Salem, VA) and Mary Parker Coleman (Sr., Warrenton, NC) each scored eight points, while Tashina DeVeaux recorded a game-high 11 rebounds and a tied a career-best with five steals.

Junior forward Amy Hill (Greenville, NC) recorded her 188th career assist, moving herself into a tie for eighth place on the Elon all-time list.

The Fightin' Christians will look to end a three-game losing streak when they travel to High Point for a Saturday night tipoff at the Millis Center beginning at 7:00 p.m.
