New Kid Knocks Off Phoenix

BIRMINGHAM, AL -- Birmingham-Southern hit an impressive .322 as a team and Rachel Malmborg notched 17 kills as the Panthers swept Elon 3-0 Sunday afternoon. The victory draws BSC to 4-4 against Big South Conference opponents this season. The Panthers are now 7-11 overall. The Phoenix fall to 6-12 on the season.

Danielle Graff had 13 kills for BSC while senior Miljana Lazarevic dug 16 balls for a match-high. Setter Kyndall Waters had 45 set assists, nearly 15 better than her average.

BSC won by scores of 30-23, 30-27, 30-28. Stephanie Harrington had six blocks (two solos, four assists). Elon rallied in game three to tie it at 22 and again at 28, but with the game 29-28 with BSC set for match point, sophomore Danielle Graff aced the Phoenix to clinch the victory.

Elon was led by 14 kills from Laura Griffin. Lindsay Lawson and Emily Hayes had nine kills each. Katie Forman had 11 digs for Elon as well.
