ROCK HILL, SC -- The Winthrop Eagles swept Elon in straight games (28-30, 23-30, 23-30) Friday night to drop the Phoenix to 6-14 overall and 1-7 in the Big South. The win moves Winthrop to 14-9, 6-2.

Emily Hayes led the way for Elon, notching a team-high 14 kills as well as six digs. Cristina Zadroga (10) and Katie Newby (13) both finished with double digits in digs. Newby finished with 32 assists on the night.

Jennifer Pritchard (15), Erin Lehman (14) and Ashlea Thomas (11) all finished with double digits in kills for Winthrop. Lehman addied 17 digs, one solo block and one block assist. Christie Davis finished the night with 42 assists.

The Phoenix hit .185 as a team, while the Eagles finished with a .245 attack percentage.

Elon will return to action tomorrow night when they battle UNC Asheville in Asheville. The match will begin at 2:00 pm.
