BROCKPORT, NY -- Elon concluded its final weekend as an NCAA-IAA Independent by collecting two final weekly honors on Sunday afternoon. Sophomore returner Rashaud Palmer was named the Special Teams Player of the Week while redshirt freshman linebacker Calvin Sutton earned Honor Roll recognition.

Palmer returned four kickoffs for 65 yards, including a long of 22, to average 16.3 yards per return in Elon's season finale at No. 6 Youngstown State Saturday. Meanwhile, Sutton collected nine tackles, including seven solo stops and two for losses, along with a pass deflection.

For the 2001 campaign, the 12 NCAA-IAA Independents are Cal Poly, Cal State Northridge, Charleston Southern, Elon, Florida Atlantic, Gardner-Webb, Liberty, Morris Brown, Saint Mary's (CA), Samford, Savannah State and Southern Utah.
