GREENVILLE, NC-- Alana Black was Elon's top finisher at Saturday's East Carolina Inviational. Black ran the 5K course in 20:19, good enough to place her 19th in the 49-runner field. As a team, Elon placed fourth out of six teams at the meet.
Becky Weaver finished in 21st place with a time of 20:27, while Clara Urquhart placed 26th after a time of 20:43. Elon's three other scoring places were 29th by Becca Dougherty (21:14), 30th by Kari Burger (21:16) and 34th from Casey Pike (21:46). Becca Dougherty marked a new personal best Saturday after beating her time set at the Elon-High Point Invitational earlier this season.
Coastal Carolina took first place in the meet, scoring 22 points. Elon's 109 points placed them in fourth. The Phoenix finished ahead of Mount Olive (144 points) and Barton College (157 points).
The Phoenix will run again on October 12th at the Seventh Annual Walt Disney World Invitational.
