CHARLOTTE, NC -- Elon senior centerfielder Jason Tuttle (Winston-Salem, NC) was honored Monday afternoon as the Wingate Inn/Big South Conference Player of the Week. Tuttle led Elon to a 4-1 week, including wins over #10 Wake Forest and Duke. He hit .500 in the five games, batting 10-for-20 with three doubles. In the three games against the Blue Devils, Tuttle went 8-for-13. He scored seven runs and knocked in six RBI. Tuttle also stole three bases in five attempts last week.
Tuttle is Elon's second consecutive Player of the Week. Jim Swenson received the honor last week.
The Phoenix is currently 8-4 on the year, including a 7-2 mark at home. Elon will take on North Carolina A&T on Wednesday afternoon in Greensboro at 2:30 p.m.
