McLEAN, VA -- The Elon baseball team received recognition on www.usatoday.com this week when it was declared Eric Sorenson's honorable mention "Team of the Week" in the South.

The Phoenix soared to a 4-1 showing last week, defeating UNC Greensboro 7-3 and nationally-ranked Wake Forest 4-1 before taking two of three games from Duke.

The mention occurs in Sorenson's weekly " Around College Baseball" notebook. This week, he announces his "teams to keep an eye on," and the list includes the Phoenix.

Elon (8-4 overall), currently celebrating its 100th season of baseball, returns to action at Latham Park Thursday afternoon when it hosts North Carolina A&T. The first pitch will be tossed out at 2:30 p.m.
